Description

Hi everyone,
we need to set up a central storage for the design team.
For a quick solution we could use Dropbox, UbuntuOne and FTP Share... what-so-ever.
In the long term we should look for some DAM thingy (versioning, tagging, etc.) ...maybe Alfresco Community Edition?

I think this could also be of interest for other teams (especially marketing).
Please share your thoughts!

Thanks and a great sunny weekend
Robert

Dropbox is a nice solution for the time being.

Hi to all of you,

when we want to use the things which are already there, dropbox in combination with the TYPO3 wiki is a good idea.

Our workflow can be like this:

- arrange meetings via skype or a similar tool
- put the relevant data to dropbox or svn (data shouldn`t move!)
- make a protocol of the team-commitments (participants, next-steps and next meeting time)
- link to the relevant data

So everyone knows what happens and what to do, everything is documented.

Alfresco is not only a document management and a collaboration tool it is also a content management system. Hmmmm... difficult, don`t you think?

What I really miss, is a gantt chart (with functionality like Merlin, which I use on my mac).

I took a look at Alfresco and I need to state that it's genius. The document share responds to all our needs describred before incl. versioning, tagging and search. Colaborating, commenting and so on. Just have a look at those several videos, it won't take you more than 5 min to get the idea. I would be very happy if it can display PSDs right in the browser window...

And the last but not least it supports the normal file sharing protocols, like CIFS/SMB/FTP. Here is tha manual how it can be set up.

I'm not sure if the Community version is capable of doing this all, but I believe it's worth giving it a try. My suggestion is to ask our developers to install it somewhere for us to test it.

12 points go to Robert for the link! :)
