Web Calendar Access Protocol (WCAP) is another protocol to access a calendar server. Several plugins exist including those for Mozilla Thunderbird, Novell Evolution and Microsoft Outlook. It's always nice when you can use an "integrated client" for groupware stuff. Web front-ends are nice but have their limits.

I think we'll probably stay focused on the iCal spec and thus our efforts at integrating with external apps will probably be focused on CalDAV. If you're aware of an GPL-compatible WCAP libraries, feel free to add a link and we may include them in the future.
