Right now it is only possible to watch new posts in a topic but not new threads.

maybe i do not understand that wish, because in
pi1/class.tx_mmforum_havealook.php i have this class: forumtx_mmforum_havealookforum that Enables email notification if someone writes a new Thread in a watched Forum ..
if this Thread is important, i can activate the Notification for that thread using the class forumtx_mmforum_havealook ...

Simon, if you have a look at the bottom of the threadlist, there should be the options with the envelope-icon.
That one is for watching for new threads.
At least in Revision 64178 that one does work.
