Description

Hi,

I´ve updated my installtion from TYPO3 4.2.10 to v4.3.2, then updated my Extension after performing all the updates in the install tool. So I have no clean installation. But the following enviroment:
TYPO3 4.3.2
templavoila 1.4.1 (from TER)
feeditadvanced 1.2.0 (from TER)

After installing feeditadvanced, the fe editing seems to load perfectly in the frontend, using Firefox 3.5.4 on a Vista machine.
Creating new Element works.

When I want to drag'n'drop an element, e.g. I want to move the 2nd element after the 3rd element, I get a popup alert twice: "no destination pointer found" is the message. The I click the ok button twice and I see the element has moved anyway. But when I reload the page, the "moved" element is on the 2nd position again and not on 3rd position as expected. Also, after moving, when I look at this page in the backend, I can see that the element has not been moved.

Can someone confirm this?
Or can someone give me a hint where to look up this error message? So maybe I can help fix this.

As I think it is because of templavoila, I´ve chosen that category. Or is it a "drag'n'drop" problem in general?

I´m not sure if this issue has something to do with issue #4698 But so I want to mention this here.

Regards
Ralf Merz

Ashes over my head!
As I saw just after my post: There was an extension istalled that did a XCLASS'ing on templavoila_pi1 and templavoila_module1.
Sorry, this one came not from me.
I have to find out, what the XCLASS does and why the error is thrown.

Sorry, guys.

Hey Ralf,
Could you let us know which extension is adding the XCLASS? That might be beneficial to help others in the future.

Thanks!
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

yes, I´ll tell you of course: But there is no danger.
The extension that did the XCLASS is not in TER. It was a special one from my company which removed the pencil icon in FE when using a special page type. That was the main reason for this extension as I saw in the code.
So, it´s no public one, no "danger" to feeditadvanded.

Thanks a lot for your fast reply! ;)

Hello,

I hate to be the bearer of (possibly) bad news, but the above did nothing to fix the problem here. I have observed the problem several times on a few sites using the following configuration:

TemplaVoila 1.3.7
Feeditadvanced 1.2.0
TYPO3 4.3-dev, as well as 4.3.2

I've disabled all extensions that hook into TemplaVoila, and sometimes moving objects from one place to another does work just fine. Strangely though, after a few attempts it just breaks down, and I get the "No destination pointer found" for a certain element (but not for others on the same page). From that point, that single element is unable to move (or rather, unable to store its new position), even though it has been moved just fine before, although similar elements on the same page can still be moved without trouble.
Other times, it will only take a single attempt to get the error message, and there seems to be no method to the madness, as moving element "A" on page "A" works after one reload, but not the next. Then it works, then it works, then it doesn't. And so on and so forth.

I'll keep an eye on #4698 for now, and see if fixing that will fix this as well.

Hi Anders,

well that´s a strange behaviour, in deed. Since I´ve removed my XCLASS, I´ve never seen this pointer message again. I even have activated the feedit for tt_news. All works fine except there´s an "Ajax error: undefined" when I delete a news. But reloading the pages shows that the news is really gone off the page.

But what I changed today:
I´ve updated my templavoila copy version 1.4.1 because in BE dragndrop and unlink of elements did not work. So I took the SVN version of today (v 1.5.0) (which maybe has nothing to do with the issue here but with my BE issues) and I´ve updated feeditadvanced to the actual trunk version as of today.
I don´t know if this could help you.

Maybe you can encloser the problem: Sometimes... hmm.. does the error "sometimes" occur with a special Content Element? Is it always the same type of content element the error occurs? Or is it really wild voodoo?
So this could help the team to help you.

Hello Ralf,

the error occurs with all kinds of content element types. The weird thing is that one "text" element suddenly won't move, while another "text" element, located just after it, works just fine.

I hadn't thought to update TemplaVoila (I thought the site in question was running the latest version, which obviously it wasn't). Unfortunately at this point, at this site, updating TV can be a tricky affair: several developer-copies are sharing the same database, so I have to be sure before I do anything. To make matters worse, the "target" site has already gone live. However, if the upgrading can be done with a minimum of database updates, I will try that.

I will look into trying TV 1.4.1 (or even 1.5) and update this issue accordingly.

'smee again,

updating to TV 1.4.1 didn't work, at least. As for updating feeditadvanced, that will have to wait 'til the new version is in TER. I guess I'll just have to be patient. :-)

Anders,
Thanks for the feedback. I'm attaching a T3X here so that you can test with the Subversion development versions. I plan to release this to the TER in a few days.

Thanks,
Jeff
