Description

There is a lot of stuff on first level that is not needed very often in every day life. On the other hand some usefull items are in an uncomfortable position or safely hidden away under More options.

The following items can go away completely or should be moved into More Options:
  • Edit: The easiest way to edit a page's content is clicking it's title in the pagetree
  • Info: At least in it's current state it is of no real use for normal editors and is available via list view. Needs new icon, by the way, because currently it looks like Web->Info but does something different)
  • Show: Instead there should be an icon in docheaders when editing page properties or content. I do find myself quite often to click the Save and view icon there I did not change anything.
  • Visibility settings: Can easily be done via Edit page properties. You do not change visibility settings 5 times a day.
  • Web>List Module: It is a lot easier to just click Web>List in the module frame.

Let us introduce two new ones instead:

  • New page after
  • New page inside

Both would open up the page properties dialogue for the new page directly, thus saving at least one click.

Suggested order:

  • Edit page properties
  • New page after
  • New page inside
  • Show (?)
  • Mount as treeroot (very useful for medium and large size pagetrees)
  • Copy
  • Cut
  • Move (?)
  • Delete
  • History/Undo (?)
  • Versioning
  • Send to review/pub
  • More options
    • Export to .t3d
    • Import from .t3d
    • View: Flexform XML
    • View: DS/TO

Note: The ideal solution would be to make items and their order of the contextmenu configurable via user TS and Page TS. Currently you can only hide items via User TS.

We should look at the Edit menu of an ordinary software before deciding on this one...

  • Undo
  • Cut
  • Copy
  • Move
  • Delete
  • New page after
  • New page inside
  • Page properties
  • Versioning
  • Review/publish
  • More options
    o Mount as treeroot
    o Export to .t3d
    o Import from .t3d
    o View: Flexform XML
    o View: DS/TO

And I suggest that we get rid of the "Edit" before Page properties and the "Send to" before Review/publish. People understand absolutely well even without these words...? I have never used the Mount as treeroot option so I suggest it goes under more options.

This is a good one for T3UXW09.
We will find a solution for this.

I'm not sure about the order.
I will create some Mockups to
get a better feeling for this.

But if we touch one Menu
we need to do it in all Context-Menus!
