According documentation the delete button should be hidden if this setting is active, but it is not.

The configuration changed https://docs.typo3.org/typo3cms/TCAReference/ColumnsConfig/Type/Group.html#fieldcontrol but, no config for the delete button?

Ahh, the move and delete buttons aren't defined as fieldcontrols.

hideMoveIcons is documented here: https://docs.typo3.org/typo3cms/TCAReference/ColumnsConfig/Type/Group.html#hidemoveicons
hideDeleteIcon which is only documented by source.
