It would make sense if you could set how the page is displayed in the backend in the page properties. Whether as a page or a list. A folder could always be displayed as a list in order to display news there. Newbies do not have to switch between pages and lists layout. This is criticized in many forums and product comparisons on TYPO3 and would be easy to fix.
So you could possibly insert a "News Articles" button in a tx_news content element in the BE to display all news in a list in the assigned folder. This applies to blogs, calendars and much more.
