Current Status Update

Added by Martin Ficzel over 3 years ago

As you may have noticed we did'nt release alpha 1 yet. This has several reasons but definitely does not mean that the development of caretaker has stopped.

We decided to postpone the release to write some documentation and to do some code-cleanup and refactoring. Both task are making good progress and we are slowly getting all stuff in the right places. In fact i have to tell that we do'nt write the documentation but a volunteer which is the first external contribution to caretaker which is not coming from n@work or networkteam. Thanks a lot.

Our intention is to create a flexible system which can be extended to nearly any monitoring purpose. So we are extracting parts like notification and logging to seperate services (the tests were implemented as services from the start). As with tests the Caretaker-Core will bring basic implementations which can be replaced by more complex ones.

So stay tuned, Martin

Announcing the release

Added by Thomas Hempel over 3 years ago

There are still some tasks to fulfill like integrating new technologies from the current TYPO3 trunk and so we give us another month to reach our first official milestone "Alpha 1".

The due date is October 30th where we will release a first official package that can be used for testing without checking out any subversion sources. This date will also set the mark for the final run towards version 1.0.

We currently plan to release an alpha version every two weeks until the source is ready for being beta which will have a release every week. We don't think that there will be more than 3 betas due to the fact, that the beta phase is dedicated to bugfixing. This also intends, that the features freeze will be set to version "Beta 1".

When everything works out as expected we hope to release version 1.0 in the TER by end of the year.

Best wishes,
Caretaker-Team
