Meeting of 16th April 2012, 17.00-17.45¶
- the questionnaire for a résumé after half a year of screencast team existence brought together very different opinions and interesting suggestions
- suggestions of the team members we should act on generally: see below
- many team members think that we have too much democracy, that is why we agreed that Silke as the team leader should become more radical, take more strict decisions and less concentrate on being polite
- considering the contents of the screencasts (level of detail, appropriateness for audience) there are two different opinions: half of the team thinks we are on the right track with the screencasts we have made so far; the other half of the team thinks our videos could be more sophisticated and that we should offer more additional befinits, hints and things that might be new to the users and less concentrate on obvious things, that is why:
- we agreed to try working in couples on one subject for the next 5 screencasts and then see how it works and what the feedback of users is like (if it should not work we might get back to a stronger role specialisation); in doing so, we will always have two people having more responsibilty per video; they will present the script to the team on forge, and if no one has comments, the script and the video will be finished like that
- we should start to set a timetable/plan for the next screencasts, by now we have:
- tt_news for editors by Tom (English version) and Jochen (German version; based on Christian's translation)
- tt_news for admins by Tom (English version, post-production by Wolfgang) and Jochen (German version, based on Christian's translation)
- IP 4.5 screencast by Oliver (German version) and Christian (English version)
- Silke will send her suggestion for new intro slides to the team by mail so that we can talk about it next week
Questionniare - suggestions we should act on generally¶
- have a short agenda - only 2 or 3 points per meeting - and collect other open topics in an extra section on the agenda
- everyone should put on the agenda what they want to talk about in order to know all the topics before the meeting and thus have a better time planning
- it can be normal to discuss a certain topic longer, but if it is getting too much into detail or if we are wandering from the subject, and also if we discuss things again and again, it should be closed by the team leader
- we should not always discuss everything with everyone; every team member should rather concentrate on their role
- make more use of FORGE for internal communication (also between single team members) and communication with other teams in order to make thinks trackable and transparent for others, to assign tasks and to provide material all team member might need, like intro slides, jingle, checklist for screencast production a.s.o.
- try to reduce waiting times for feedback or pieces of work of another member by asking again during the week via FORGE and not wait until the next meeting
