The 4.6 release team meets weekly for a Skype discussion round on the current activities. If you find this report interesting or have some comment or question about a particular topic, don't hesitate to follow-up on the thread in the v4 mailing list.

On Monday, May 23rd 2011 we held our 9th meeting with the following participants:

• Benjamin Mack (4.4 Release Manager)
• Ben van't Ende (Community Manager)

Topics¶

According to Benni, 203 people attending the latest TYPO3 camp week-end. Ernesto found it inspiring, with many talks about Extbase and Fluid. That's great to see so many people excited about these technologies. One of the main question was to define "what is Extbase" and the answer is a bridge technology.

Form project¶

Patrick told us that he does not want to include his code as long as it has not been properly tested. We discussed this and will make sure the code (that takes over the form cObject) will find its way as patches or Gerrit reviews.

XLIFF¶

Good news, a meeting is happening next week and Dominique made some progress on the topic [1]. More on this during next week, with our 10th Minutes.

Toolbar in ExtJS¶

Steffen and me had a Skype chat session and we will think about some basic API for the toolbar.

TCEforms refactoring¶

Andreas is currently mainly focusing on FAL. Current code is hosted on GitHub: https://github.com/andreaswolf/typo3-tceforms and we will hopefully have something to be integrated in some weeks.

Install Tool¶

Benni told us that work on documentation, update of some texts and so on should start in 2-3 weeks. T3DD11 will be the opportunity to finalize most of this refactoring.

FAL¶

We miss some feedback and will try to be more present to make sure we can introduce some initial work such as the API in alpha2. Project is hosted on GitHub: https://github.com/andreaswolf/git.typo3.org.

REST / Web Services¶

No news so far.

File Upload¶

I got in touch with Christian Müller and he will make a draft for an upload API and send some mails to collect ideas from other team members. Answers should be ready for our next meeting.

BE performance¶

Ernesto reported that "it's an issue" (quote from T3camp). We are still working on that and our Steffen, one of our ExtJS specialists, should have a quick and always working internet connection after his move.

Working with Git and Gerrit¶

We are aware that starting to use those new tools is not as easy as it should be and we will try to echo to the proposal to create some video tutorials. Ben will mail Kasper about how to do "official" screencasts gather some recommendations. In the mean time, the wiki [2] is still the sole documentation we really keep up to date and enhance as pitfalls and special cases are found.

Dates¶

• TYPO3 4.6 alpha2 on June 14th 2011
• Feature Freeze and TYPO3 4.6 beta1 on August 2nd 2011
  no new features and no exceptions after the feature freeze date
• Final Release of TYPO3 4.6.0 on October 25th 2011
