"Themes in TYPO3 have been established via a successful crowd funding and are available for TYPO3 CMS 6.2 for quite some time now. Due to a lot of presentations at several TYPO3 camps and other events, and last but not least via the workshop tour, TYPO3 Themes are spreading within the TYPO3 community. Still there is the need to present TYPO3 and especially the approach of Themes to the public outside that TYPO3 community. And on the other hand we will need to keep the pace of the core team and have Themes adapted to TYPO3 CMS 7 and 8.
This is why this budget application is split in two parts. One will be for 2 code sprints that will enable us to focus on the actual code of Themes, which is not happening at camps or during the workshops. Similar to the sprints we already had last year and this year as well, we want to meet with a small group of up to 6 people for a long weekend. So we will need the enabling costs for these sprints.
On the other hand, Themes and TYPO3 are quite a good topic for presentations of our favorite CMS at events outside the TYPO3 universe. The first will have happened already, when this budget is going to be decided, during the Internet Festival in Pisa, Italy, in October 2015. Our goal is, to visit other events and present TYPO3 together with Themes to people, who never heard of TYPO3 before, because we think, that especially a solution like Themes will convince them to try it as a CMS for their project.
Since we have to do some other work as well, we can not provide a full time evangelist job, but we want to go to at least 4 non TYPO3 events in 2016 to spread the word about TYPO3. This is what the second part of the budget will be used for."
