Will this be a newly developed tool or an integration of a third party service.

If the former, why not the later?

It will be a third party service

We, Reelworx, do have a TYPO3 extension "Conference Organization and Management Tool", which covers:

  • Call for paper
  • Schedule planning
  • Ticket sale
  • Badge-printing
  • On-site checkin

The extension is multi-event capable (eg yearly events), hence the user-accounts can be reused for each event.

Since this is a TYPO3 extension (v8 compatible) all usual features of a the CMS are available.

@Markus: I guess, that this extension is not available to the public, is it?

We developed a similiar extension, which is not yet v8 compatible. Since the use-case of managing events and conferences is really common, a well developed public extension would not only help TYPO3 event coordinators but the whole community.

I would therefore suggest to contact Reelworx and evaluate their extension. If this extensions matches most of the needs, the budget should be re-evaluated and spent on adding some missing features and on the ongoing support by Reelworx. In return Reelworx should make this extension publicly available.

Thanks for the suggestions. The budget was not meant to be spent on the extension but on the work of drawing all info together. But I am happy to look into that TYPO3 extension. There are various solutions out there which we'll evaluate and come up with a suggestion. I know of many other solutions myself, too, even other TYPO3-related ones.

Okay, then I totally misunderstood the idea.

But why don't we use something like Xing Events or Eventbrite?

Third party? Sustainable? - Added by Martin Bless almost 2 years ago

Do you have a third party already in mind?

Is the question WHICH third party it is important for your suggestion?

How would you make sure the money spent results in something sustainable?

Correct, our extension is non-public as the whole thing is a rather complex tool meanwhile. We usually sell it together with a project which involves TYPO3 setup in general, template adjustments and also custom features.
At the current state we will not make the ext public since we definitely don't have the resources for proper support for the whole community.
