Description

It looks like on the old redmine server, the database isn't clean:

http://forge.typo3.org/issues/43869#note-4 (journals id 144987) contains wrong encoded special characters. This is broken after importing the dump on the new server.

I wasn't able to correct that problem with iconv magic or replacing CHARSET=utf8 with CHARSET=latin1.

Help is needed.

well. we have double utf-8 encoded content in the database unfortunatly. This is nothing that is messed during update/import. This is due to fixed/improved charset handling in rails/redmine which uncovers broken environments. I'll add a script to fix it soon.

another (simple) option should be:

  1. mysqldump --default-character-set=latin1
  2. in dump only fix one line 'SET NAMES latin1' into 'SET NAMES utf8'
  3. import dump
  4. run migrations

Is this fixed?

We have to copy the DB to the new server as described by Peter. We don't have a battle plan for the migration, so let's keep this open until then.
