If there is a link like
<link http://google.com></link>
The link is in the RTE not visible, but in the frontend you can see
<a href="http:google.com">http://google.com</a>
So as limited editor (no disabling of RTE) you are unable to remove this link.
I do not know how you can get such a link, but i think it is a bug.
