[DOC] Link to how to contribute
As suggested by Thomas Mayer on Slack (@thomaszbz), it would useful that the "Links" section would contain a "How to contribute" link/chapter.
Updated by Thomas Mayer over 5 years ago
The links section at https://docs.typo3.org/typo3cms/extensions/sphinx/Links.html contains a https git remote url https://git.typo3.org/TYPO3CMS/Extensions/sphinx.git .
There is no way contributors can push changes to https repositories when they are read-only.
Instead, ssh urls need to be used and hopefully this allows the contribution process in https://wiki.typo3.org/Contribution_Walkthrough_Life_Of_A_Patch (not tested). At least this document contains no special treatment for extensions hosted on TYPO3's infrastructure. Btw. contribution via GitHub is a lot easier (I would like to see more one-time-committers to TYPO3 core and extensions).
By this issue, it should be made clear (and easy to find!)
- Where to get the repository
- Prerequisites (Forge issue must exist, ...)
- Which changes you accept and which changes you don't accept (coding style, rebase policy, commit message, ...)
- How and where to push changes
- Everything else necessary to get more contributions by the community
Long story short: If all the conventions of TYPO3 core apply to your extension, just link to the corresponding resources.
I consider Sphinx extension as a showcase for extension documentors, and to be honest, I'd like to see a way to contribute in every extension.
