kb_display now on forge
The kb_display extension is a general data display extension, which allows you to show list and detail views for any TCA table.
The kb_display extension allows you to select any of the TYPO3 tables for which a TCA array is available. You'll have to define a template file, and probably some TypoScript configuration and can output list and detail views of any TYPO3 records.
This for example allows you to easily create list and detail views of tables like tt_address, tt_news, or any of your own custom tables.
If one of your major tasks while developing websites, is to create FE plugins, which simply allow an editor to fill in data into custom records like "books", "events", "location", "products" or whatever kind of data sets your website shows. And let those plugins create lists and single views of the data which editors filled in, then this extension together with "kb_kickstarter" is probably something which makes your life worlds easier.
Instead of using the TYPO3 kickstarter for creating completly new extension, customly made for each site/application, you could create your data structure using kb_kickstarter (MODEL) and then create appropriate views (VIEW) using kb_display. The only thing up to you is to create a "CONTROLLER" which can either simply be the TYPO3 backend, allowing an editor to fill in data, or your own custom extension which allows users to create new records like offered "books", "events" happening, etc. etc.
If you are interested just have a look the the "kb_display" or "kb_kickstarter" wiki.
