TYPO3 CMS 6.2 compatibility and new features
New versions of External Import and associated connector services were released today, their compatibility with TYPO3 CMS 6.2 verified and some new features added.
The releases happened for extensions "external_import", "externalimport_tut", "svconnector", "svconnector_csv", "svconnector_feed", "svconnector_json" and "svconnector_sql". All extensions have been updated to provide support across all versions of TYPO3 CMS from 4.5 to 6.2. They also now use reStructuredText for their manuals.
On top of this general updates, several small bugs were fixed in various extensions. More importantly, several new features were added to "external_import". Many such features were provided by members of the community, which made me really happy. It is good to see this extension being used and people actually contributing to it.
- when defining several import configurations for the same table, it is now possible to define only the "ctrl" part for each configuration and simply refer to another configuration for columns. See the useColumnIndex property. Credits go to Alexander Opitz for this feature.
- the "where_clause" property of mapping configuration supports a marker for using the current storage pid. Alexander Opitz gets the credits for that one too.
- the import process is now able to handle external fields containing several external values separated by some delimiter (a comma, for example). See the multipleValuesSeparator property. This is thanks to Marc Bastian Heinrichs.
- for XML data, it is possible to execute a XPath query straight on the selected node type, instead of only the the nodes selected with the "field" property.
I hope you will enjoy all this new goodness. Apart from bug fixes I don't plan to work on these branches again. The next step for this family of extensions would be to fully refactor the code, in a structure that would require TYPO3 CMS 6.2 or more.
