Image gallery ( sp_gallery )¶
What does it do?¶
This extension provides an image gallery with teaser, lightbox, full-screen view, touch-screen support and a scheduler task for frontend independent image generation. The scheduler also monitors the configured image directories of your galleries for new files and generates suitable images for the frontend. The extension is based on extbase, fluid and jQuery and uses the Galleria plugin as gallery. For a demo of this gallery, please visit http://galleria.aino.se.
What should I have?¶
All you need are TYPO3 4.5 or newer, installed extbase and fluid extensions and some images. The extension comes with the jQuery library, which can optionally be disabled, the Galleria image gallery and a basic theme for Galleria.
How can I use it?¶
The classic theme and the Galleria plugin are licensed under the MIT license and can be used for all your commercial or non-commercial projects. For more information about the license, please visit http://galleria.aino.se.
You can find a live demo of the used Galleria gallery and the classic theme at http://galleria.aino.se/themes/classic/. You can purchase more beautiful themes on the vendor website.
How does it work?¶You create a gallery dataset and configure your preferred image directory. Afterwards the scheduler-task generates four images in different formats from each image of this directory. These different images formats are required to speedup the gallery in frontend:
- Teaser image
- Small image in default gallery window
- Big image in fullscreen view
Why is the scheduler-task required?¶
Because the creation of images is time consuming. If you do not use the scheduler-task, all the images will be generated the first time the gallery page is visited. This may take several minutes and as long as the visitor sees only a blank page. And the scheduler-task observes the image directories for new or changed files and in this case converts them in all required formats.
