BE feels slower since introduction of the ajax loading

Description
Since the introduction of the spinning loader icon in the BE (which enables editing not until the whole third column is completely loaded), the BE feels considerably slower. We didn't really measure it compaed to TYPO3 4.4.x, but it sure feels slower which is enough of an issue besides the assumption that it is in fact a bit slower.
Is there any chance, this will speed up again in future 4.5 patchlevel releases?

IIRC this was a decision of design team - so I think not this would be removed.
I use EXT:noloadingmask, this extension disables the overlay and only shows the spinner. It feels faster.
