Since an update from 4.5.11 to 4.6.4 the categories ( e. g. Category: Backend (xx Items) ) are missing in the available extensions list.

Can't reproduce this issue. Please recheck the filtering settings and provide a screenshot.

This occours with any filter settings.
On my server, there is only 1 t3 installation with this behaviour, but read some posts about this issue.
I also uninstalled nearly all extensions, cleanrd caches and temp dirs, but without any success.

Open the dropdown menu of the column Kategorie (down arrow on the right side of the column) and select the option 'Group By This Field'.

Just saw this in an installation and Jigal's comment is the correct solution. No bug IMHO
