In TYPO3 6.0 a new menu type for content element "menu" was added. The corresponding rendering was added to css_styled_content only for the current static template, but not for older ones. As a result, this menu (number 8) cannot be rendered correctly if using an older template. After discussion in the Core mailing list, it seems to make sense to add the rendering at least down to version 4.5, so that people upgrading from 4.5 to 6.2 who would want to keep the 4.5 rendering can still see the new menu.

This principle must be extended to the new categories-based page menu added recently to the Core (menu type 9).
