Description

sometimes the cursor disappears in the editor field of rtehtmlarea. You are able to edit your text, but you don´t see the cursor. You have to save or close and then open again to see the cursor again. The problem exist in earlier Versions but also in the newest version Typo3 4.1.1 with rtehtmlarea 1.5.2 under windows xp, server 2003 and Mac OSX 10.4.9. Typo3 runs under Linux.
This problem is very bothering for editors managing large sites.

I think that this has been fixed in many cases in 4.2. Please describe the situations in which you loose the cursor in 4.2.

thank you for pay attention to this problem Stanislas.
If the final release 4.2 ist out, I am able to test it immediatly and give you feedback at this place.
In Versions up to 1.16 the problem seems to be associated with the input of CR and LF

4,.2 final is not out, but 4.2 RC1 is.

I am using the 4.2 RC1 and the problem with the cursor still appears sometimes. In my case there are often problems when you mark some text backwards - from right to left ...
Then some chars are missed out within the mark.

@Axel: the right to left hightlighting issue seems to be a different issue. Please open a separate entry into the bugtracker.

Otherwise, I am interested to know in what specific cases you may loose the cursor. "Sometimes" is not very helpful.

The highlighting from right to left issue is now fixed in SVN. See issue #8043.

@Stanislas Rolland yesterday the cursor disappeared again after changing a link in rtehtmlarea serveral times (Typo3 4.2, rtehtmlarea 1.7.4). The bug seams to occure randomly. Till today I am not able to recognize a rule.

@Harald: I would like to know if you are using the accessibility icons feature when the loss of cursor occurs.

Actions #11

Updated by Harald Dolderer almost 16 years ago

@Stanislas: No, I don't use the accessibility icons feature.

Is this still an issue in TYPO3 4.3?

Actions #13

Updated by Harald Dolderer almost 14 years ago

yes, the bug is still present.
Typo3 4.3.3
But there is one differnce.
If you save the content element the cursor is back again.
You don't have to close the content element and open it again to see the cursor again.

Is it always related to updating links?

Do you mean that when this happens, you cannot edit the content anymore?

I tried for a long time but it seems I just can't reproduce this issue...

I just experienced this bug: I opened an RTE with content in it, marked a word by double clicking, clicked on SelectColor and chose one of the colors. Then I clicked OK.

The text is colored and the cursor no longer visible.
Toggling to HTML Mode and back makes it come up again.

I just tried to reproduce this by doing exactly the same with the same text again: The cursor is visible... Strange.

IMHO this is a Firefox bug, as I have this "hidden cursor" problem also in phpMyAdmin or other JS controlled textareas.

So closing?
