In my root-Page Appearance settings I selected a backend layout for the page and for the subpages of this page.

If I create a new subpage via drag&drop the new page does not have the backend_layout I selected for the subpages in the root-Page.

If I create a new page with the "Page Actions -> New"-dialog it works.

Creating pages with "Functions->Create multiple pages" works for pages directly placed below the root-Page. Creating them in a folder which is located under the root-Page the backend_layout is not assigned.

A page which failed to inherit the correct backend_layout can be forced to have the correct backend_layout by opening the page properties, assign any backend_layout, save, remove backend_layout, save.
