Seems like the showForgotPasswordLink setting was renamed to showForgotPassword during the refactoring to fluid templates. In the TypoScript setup it's still showForgotPasswordLink and therefore the setting is not applied to the template.

I would keep the constant with the "Link" at the end $styles.content.loginform.showForgotPasswordLink as it is for compatibility.
