How does one edit a footer, tried almost everything and it did not work

sorry, but I could not resist giving the obvious answer. :-)
This is a bugtracker, where we collect bugs, not questions.
For questions like yours our mailing lists at http://lists.typo3.org are the right place.
When you want to get a response there, you must be much more detailed:
How do you create the footer? Meaning: Where does it come from? Maybe: Do you use the Introduction Package?
Where do you want to edit the footer (in the Frontend or in the Backend)?
