If I use the link browser outside the RTE and there is no link defindef for that field the link browser starts always with the tab "External URL" and the URL "http://TYPO3ROOT/?id=" where TYPO3ROOT is the root of my typo3 installation.
The error occured in earlier versions too! (3.5, 3.6, ...)

TYPO3 Version too old.
The reported version is no longer maintained.
If this bug still persists in 4.0.1, please re-open it again and set the field "Product Version" to the corresponding version.
