I applied the patch of issue 0007992, but the text does not show up anyway

As you mentioned, this happens only if htmlarea is showing up directly on load....
(example tt_news)

After applying the patch, you should delete all files in typo3temp/rtehtmlarea and clear the cache of your browser.
