Description

Hello!

I am trying to fix a problem with my RTE insert table function in IE8. It is working fine with Firefox 3.6.3 but when i push the insert table button in IE8 its like this: the popup comes up with all the settings for the table - so far so good, but when i press OK to actually insert the table it does not appear in the Text editing field - i only can see the heading above the "close document" "save document" signs (take a look at the screenshot).

I am a bloody beginner regarding Typo3, so please be patent :)) - if i need to add more informatian, please let me know.

I would be very thankful for any help.

Your TYPO3 version was created before IE8 was published. So there might be an incompatibility.
Please make an update to TYPO3 4.2.12. Then clear all caches in TYPO3 and in your browser.

Does it work now?

Hi
Is your problem localised to IE8? Try Firefox and see if the issue persists. Also as Christopher has pointed out you need to update your TYPO3 install.
BTW I found this on the dev mailing list:

http://lists.typo3.org/pipermail/typo3-dev/2010-February/039104.html
Your problem might be related to it, and it seems to be an IE8 only problem and have something to do with the timing of execution of various js elements.

Hi!

Thanks for your prompt answers! Its an IE8 issue cause it works fine with Firefox. Updating Typo seems to be a little over my head only for this issue - i think i ll stick to Firefox (like Steffen) if i really need the table and more or less keep on looking for a way to solve it :)

Thanks again and if there is another more important issue coming up - the first thing i will do is to update TYPO3 before i bother anyone with my stuff :D

Have a great day!

This might be related to #11946. The fix for this is included in 4.2.9 and newer.

I have now tested this:
I cannot reproduce this issue in IE8 with TYPO3 4.2.12. Seems it was fixed.

So:
The issue is only reported for an old version. It seems to be fixed in the current version.
If noone reports this problem in the current version, I think this one can be closed.

Unable to reproduce with more recent versions of TYPO3.
