and should actually not say this as the Update did not fail but permissions seem to be wrong so the part can not be written automatic into the .htacess file.

What about saying " Please add these lines first into your .htaccess or check manually if they have already been added before continuing"

And in the last step with those images the button to continue to the database compare is missing! Somehow you need to notify the user that he has to do the database compare or that he has to run the update wizard again to get to the last step. Perhaps even a Major Button "Database Compare" in the main menu would remind them much better to not forget this major part
