The problem was been noticeable first in our workspaces were every users should get some notifications if something has changed in their workspace. No notifications were sent. I've done a test-mail from the installer-backend now and don't get any mails too.
Same site on the same server using TYPO3 4.4.6 sends mails fine.

Report can be closed. Problem appeared only in the constellation of using TYPO3 4.5 and a changed mail-api of our provider.

Closed because it was a configuration problem according to reporter.
