 In #74375 the fe_users.image was switched in the TCA to FAL, but should it not be done in the FrontendUser Model as well? 

 In TYPO3 8.6.1 it is set to: 
 <pre> 
     /** 
      * @var string 
      */ 
     protected $image = ''; 
 </pre> 

 I think it should be: 
 <pre> 
     /** 
      * @var \TYPO3\CMS\Extbase\Persistence\ObjectStorage<\TYPO3\CMS\Extbase\Domain\Model\FileReference> 
      */ 
     protected $image = null; 
 </pre> 

 And in the getters and setters of course. 

 Adding the Image to your fluid template results in an error @#1256475113: The argument "image" was registered with type "object", but is of type "string" in view helper "TYPO3\CMS\Fluid\ViewHelpers\ImageViewHelper"@
