D3.js v5 does not suffer from the Chrome 64 bug – #83741 – and therefore doesn't need to be patched when used in TYPO3.
As the TYPO3 d3-request pull request https://github.com/d3/d3-request/pull/34/files has not been merged in 2 years, we really need to classify d3-request as stale and therefore should migrate away. (To be fair: At the time the pull request was added, d3-request was already deprecated – since two days :D)
