ImageSitemap out of the box

Description
Hi!
I wanted to ask/mention if there is a plan to bring an image sitemap out of the box?
Currently we have normal pages support and also some record stuff, that could be configured.
But AFAIK there is no build in image sitemap support.
Investigating further brought me to the extension: https://extensions.typo3.org/extension/tgm_copyright
which i adapted in our use case to an XML Sitemap that can be used in the normal one.
This lead to some performance issues on larger pages though.
That's why i'm looking into a more consistent and performant version supported by the smart people on here!

The referred extension seems to be actively maintained, did you already bring this up there? The code doesn't look too different than what a core feature might use. The sitemaps though would need caching, but that should not be hard to implement.
If there are fitting extensions out there and there's no immediate need to put something into the core, we try to support a healthy and active extensions ecosystem.
