the page type shortcut can not link to a content element on a page.
the pagebrowser shows only pages not content elements by clicking on the ">" icon.

Shortcut to a content element on another page isn't a good way to go. Where to get the layout of the page? There are more pitfalls then benefits.
You can link in the page to a content element of another page. This way around you have the complete flexibility without changing complexity of rendering the page.

Please create a new issue and link to this one, if you feel the closing wasn't right.
