1. at the moment the function render_uploads uses hardcoded table wraps.
2. Paramaters are passed via linkProc which should be replaced by a more generic stdWrap construct/render object.
A useDescriptionInsteadofFilename flag would also be nice but might be obvious when stdWrap is properly implemented.

This has been requested before, in bug #2421. I agree that we should make content rendering much more flexible and configurable through TS, especially in the css_styled_content extension (but maybe even in the core, so that wouldn't even need to use USER-functions for render_bullets et al)
