tsLinks not rendered in tt_news and de_simplecalendar (should be in css_styled_content?)

Description

Am posting in rtehtmlarea as the relevant code seems to come from there.
TYPO3 4.04 htmlarea 1.3.8 tt_news 1.7.3 de_simplecalendar 0.2.11
Links are stored correctly ( <link some.url> ) in mysql but not rendered at all, linktext and the default inserted img only.
Links inserted as real hrefs are not affected (but also do not spamprotect email addresses)

Recognised this too late and updated the entire system and pretty much all extensions so I am unsure where the problem originates.

Hope it's not me having fucked up the tscript, I much rather deal with the php source.
