Description

This is for Firefox 3, TYPO3 4.2.1:

If you use the "direct record editing function" (if this is the correct name), for example if you type

fe_users:123

in the search field in the backend, the edit-frame opens in the whole window, so you have to reload the backend.

i can confirm this behaviour, script calls alt_doc direct

The issue is very old, does this issue exists in newer versions of TYPO3 CMS (4.5 or 6.1)?
