As noted in the Core API docs (http://typo3.org/documentation/document-library/core-documentation/doc_core_api/4.2.0/view/4/2/#id4272080)
"MM relations has been tested to work with flexforms if not in a repeated element in a section."
This documents a blocker to make fx. Templavoila work with DAM.

The issue is very old, does this issue exists in newer versions of TYPO3 CMS (4.5 or 6.1)?
