image-popup: PDF ignores maxW for resizing popup-image

Description
The default typo3-popup 'enable click-enlarge' doesn't care about maxW of images to generate the popup of a pdf-file. I tried with different ImageMagick Versions 6.2, 6.5... and it had no effect to the result.
I always cleaned the typo3temp folder but popups have always been to small. After manually saving the pdf-file as a png (not suitable for our customers) the resolution of the popup was correct. So there must be a problem in combination with pdf-files. I also checked some combinations of [im_version_5] options with the different installed IM versions --> result remains the same.

The issue is very old, does this issue exists in newer versions of TYPO3 CMS (4.5 or 6.1)?
