Description

I see several issues:
  • Buttons not visible (ExtJS styles missing)
  • "Select files" button has width 80, which is too small when translated - then not the whole "button" is a button
  • Add an X in the upper right to close the window, listen for Esc or clicks outside the window to close it.

This would be my wishes for 4.3 branch!

For 4.4 I'd like to change the behavior to show the list of selected files and upload after another explicit OK
(issue imported from #M12871)

Shouldn't it be possible to continue working during file upload?
Using Firefox 3.5 the uploader is on a layer in front of all the other content. Everything else is greyed out.
Is that normal?

Yes, that's normal. Don't know, where the uploader is integrated (think in the backend.php), but IMHO it's okay this way. If user really wants to work in the meanwhile, he could open a new tab.

Ah, ok, I thought it should somehow be possible to put the uploader into a corner of the screen or so (just like a window) and continue working in the same tab...

Hey Christopher,

no, that's due to a restriction: If the frame (e.g. file_list.php) that opened the mass uploader has a callback (which it has in this case), but the user has navigated to another module, and the uploader returns back to the screen after uploading, the browser crashes. That's why I ensure that the greyed out area has to stay there.

Thanks for the info, Benni!

Should be written down somewhere. Any ideas where?

I just searched the place where I read, that you could continue working while uploading.
NEWS.txt ("Uploading files is now available"...) does not state that.
The release notes also don't say that: http://typo3.org/download/release-notes/typo3-43/#c5638
Same for the association news: http://news.typo3.org/news/article/typo3-version-43-released/
All they say is that you can upload different files simultaneously; not that you can upload and continue working simultaneously.

After some more searching I think that heise.de wrote that:
http://www.google.de/search?q=Der+Upload+l%C3%A4uft+im+Hintergrund+ab%2C+sodass+man+w%C3%A4hrend+des+Hochladens+der+Dateien+weiterarbeiten+kann.

It is a false information.

Since none of the devs officially claimed that this worked, I also think that there is no real need to write down, that this is not included.
Maybe you could write a mail to heise.de (as an important news page) asking them to fix their mistake...

But maybe this is an idea for 4.4?

As all issues addressed by this report are fixed (see related entries), I set this as resolved, too.
Thank you guys!
