$LANG->readLLfile() is called from [ext]/piX/class.tx_[ext]_piX_wizicon.php as generated by the kickstarter. If this function is not public insertion of a new CE in backend fails, ie:

Fatal error: Call to protected method language::readLLfile() from context 'tx_ghrandomcontent_pi1_wizicon' in [...]/typo3conf/ext/gh_randomcontent/pi1/class.tx_ghrandomcontent_pi1_wizicon.php on line 37
