When you put a <table> element inside an <li> element, the source code of the table is shown in the frontend instead of the table itself.
Sample source code in RTE:
<ul>
<li>text <br />
<table><tbody><tr><td>column 1</td><td>column 2</td></tr></tbody></table>
</ul>
Output in FE is:
- text
<table><tbody> ....
