BE-Printing broken with IE 8 on 4.5

Description
It is not longer possible to print a content frame out of the backend with Internet Explorer releases 6.x to 8.x. It takes several minutes before the print dialog appears and only the main window without the content frame is printed.
You can reproduce the failure with the "About Modules" at the "Help" Module. Printing content with IE is not possible.
Printing with firefox and safari works fine. Also printing with IE at TYPO3 4.4.
We need the print functionality out of the backend for three modules.

Same problem here. It works with Firefox + Safari but not with IE8. It also doesn't work with the newest Chrome. Tested it with a fresh install, no extensions installed. Fresh out of the box it doesn't work.

I assume it has to do with the ExtJS viewport. However, I have no clue, how to help IE8 along..

I used the Firebug/Chrome Developer tools and the console shows me an error in line 3966 of the Prototype-JS. Whenever i resize the window or when I try to print the console throws that error. When I dig deeper in the code then it seems that it is indeed the viewport. I'm no programmer so I really don't know how to fix it but I hope that information helps.

as this issue is very old. Does the problem still exists within newer versions of TYPO3 CMS (4.5.34)?
