After entering the right user and password in
typo3/install/index.php?TYPO3_INSTALL%5btype%5d=config
it does not show available databases for this user and still shows the old database which has been installed before.
After changing the database entry manually in localconf.php and complete reloading of the install tool page the correct database shows up.

Could you please provide the steps to reproduce?
I deleted the DB password, saved the form, put in the right password again, saved the form and got the full list of available DBs for that user in the select box.
