The hook $GLOBALS['TYPO3_CONF_VARS']['SC_OPTIONS']['fileList']['editIconsHook'] is useless if there is no information about the folderobject itself.

Usecase: I want to change the edit icons for a specific driver.

Solution: add

    /**
     * Get folder object
     *
     * @return \TYPO3\CMS\Core\Resource\Folder
     */
    public function getFolderObject() {
        return $this->folderObject;
    }
