Description

Usability is something that attracts new users to use a system. If a system looks ugly it does not create a good first impression on the users. I have no clue about the templating systems at play in typo3 but i would like to request the developers to include some templates that don't look like the whole website is put between two lines. Most of the templates of typo3 waste a lot of screen estate. Most of the websites, there are a few exceptions are fixed width and they waste tons of space on either side of the screen. I know that there exist super coders and designers who could create a website that is fluid and makes use of every pixel on the screen but unfortunately i am not one of them neither are a lot of typo3 users. The website looks like a bamboo stick mostly. I want the creators to include a template in the basic install that is really beautiful, fluid width so that more people get attracted to typo3. Please consider my request.I have worked with WordPress, Joomla and Drupal templates and all of them have fluid width, fixed width, Elastic Layouts and many other options. After searching for three straight days i was little disappointed, i could not find one template of typo3 that is fluid. I might be bad at search but them i recommend one preinstalled.
Thank you

Hi there,

thanks a lot for your input! I agree with you on the matter and I know that there is a new Introduction Package template in the works that addresses exactly these concerns.

However, the thing is that TYPO3 has for some reason always lacked a kind of template/theme repository. The reason for that might be that there are so many ways to implement a design and everybody does it a little different.

tl;dr We know about the issue and things are in the works.

thanks for your report!

Since 6.2, there is the possibility to install a preconfigured distribution. One is built using twitter bootstrap, see http://demo.typo3.org/ and http://cms62.demo.typo3.org/!
