ExtensionManager - Unable to edit files in extensions
Added by Paul A. Auwehla over 11 years ago.
Updated over 11 years ago.
Priority:
Won't have this time
Category:
Extension Manager
Description
Is it planned to reinvent these essential feature?
Without the possibility to make little changes to setup/constants
ExtensionManager has lost one of its most advanced functions.
This is not planned and was intended to be left out in the Extension Manager..
- Category set to Extension Manager
- Status changed from New to Rejected
- Priority changed from Must have to Won't have this time
"setup / constants" are not meant to be edited in the extensions paths. So removing that feature at least shows you that these haven't been "best practices".
Instead you simply override or add settings you need in your own TypoScript template, so that you keep the original extension's code as-is, allowing you to later upgrade it without any further troubles.
Thanks for your report and if you have any improvement idea, you are welcome to discuss it within the Usability Team (https://forge.typo3.org/projects/usability).
