Description

The function is not used in the core and marked as @internal since the beginning of the time (revision history).
Therefore it is removed directly.

Is there any alternative method? direct_mail is broken.

@Felix, I do not know what direct_mail does here, but this method was never public API. Also it does not look like a good idea to use it at all. Even the PhpDoc tells us that nobody knows what it is good for.

Direct_mail needs to check what they want to archive and might just tells admins to set the required configuration manually instead of changed the TSconfig right from the code. I think there are far better ways to use the API instead of using this function.
