The preview of PDFs in the filelist module links directly to the PDF file. E.G. the preview image tag of Prospect.pdf:
<img src="../fileadmin/downloads/Prospect.pdf" title="Prospect.pdf" alt="">
All image rendering tests in the install tool are good especially "Read pdf" and "Read ai".
Chrome logs an information "Resource interpreted as Image but transferred with MIME type".
