When running TYPO3 7 in composer mode you still get the following message when checking the status report:
Extension list is not up to date! The Main Repository extension list is older than 7 days. Please update it in the Extension manager or Scheduler.
Is it necessary to get this report when the installation is in composer mode?

Imo it is usefull to have this report as it can notice you about insecure extensions even if updating the extension can't be done through extension manager.
You can easily disable the report by removing the report registration from the configuration in though ext_localconf.php or AdditionalConfiguration.php.
